Intrinsic defect structure of the candidate QSL YbZn2GaO5
Abstract: YbZn2GaO5 has been identified as a candidate U(1) Dirac QSL without structural disorder on the basis of x-ray diffraction studies. However, for x-rays, there is limited sensitivity to the O sublattice and little scattering contrast between Zn and Ga. We have already identified the presence of structural disorder for YbZn2GaO5 using single-crystal diffuse neutron scattering on SXD. We now propose to study the intrinsic structural disorder quantitatively using total powder neutron scattering on Polaris for YbZn2GaO5 and the new related material TmZn2GaO5.
